The teaching of computing has a greater focus on developing programming skills. These skills are taught during their sessions in the ICT suite as well as in class. The children in KS1 and KS2 also have regular access to netbooks to use in class to enrich their curriculum and develop their researching skills.
We use the International Primary Curriculum to teach history, geography, art, design and technology. This means that children will learn through topics that link subjects together. It encourages children to engage with their own learning so the topics relate to their current needs and is relevant to their future. It supports the development of their knowledge, skills and understanding in each subject.
Key Stage 2 had the fantastic opportunity to link their topic with their ICT by entering a virtual reality. Year 6 explored the WW2 trenches whist year 4 took a through the digestive system, finally it was over to year 3 to explore the volcanoes of the world.
We also let the children fly through space, explore the ocean and walk with dinosaurs.
