The 'Give it up' challenge is simple- during Lent you give something up, save up the money you would have spent and donate it to CAFOD instead!
The Government will double donations too so the amount we raise together as a school will be doubled by the Government and CAFOD will be able to help even more people.
With match funding, your donations can go twice as far:
£1 = £2 buys seeds for two families to grow beans
£10 = £20 means a family has enough seeds to grow nutritious vegetables for two years
£33 = £66 supplies two families with safe water
£85 = £170 helps two communities build toilets with hand washing facilities
CAFOD group challenge you to take part by giving up your Friday break time crisps!
Instead, bring in the 50p that they would have cost and donate it to CAFOD.
Posters are all around the school- go check them out! The video link below tells you more too.
Buckets will be available to collect money on Friday mornings.
So remember: GIVE IT UP!
We are excited to get started learning about Lent and the three practices that Catholics do during this time: Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. We will be teaching our families and our peers all about Lent and how we can do things to help others in our world. We remember that we only have one world and must share it and love everyone in it.
As Year 2 are the top of Key Stage 1, they have a chance to take part in a group set up to highlight the work done by CAFOD and contribute towards it through arranging fundraising activities and developing the school community's awareness and activeness in helping others in our world.
Led by Ms Ford, the group will meet at regular opportunities during the school term. If you are in Year 2 and would like to be part of the CAFOD action group, keep checking this page for updates. A letter will be added soon asking for parental permission to join the group, for photos and participation in activities (e.g. CAFOD offers chances for pupils to draw a picture and send it in for publication).
Any questions or if you'd like to offer support, please contact Ms Ford.
