St Antony's

Catholic Primary School

God is at the heart of our school

Our approach to teaching and learning mathematics

Our Maths Curriculum presents pupils with rich and enjoyable experiences enabling them to secure essential knowledge and skills whilst also providing them with many opportunities to use and apply their mathematical expertise across the curriculum, when solving real life problems and mathematical investigations.

At St. Antony’s we use White Rose materials to plan and deliver high quality mathematics lessons to our children. We are dedicated to enabling our children to achieve academic mastery in mathematics and we do so using a Concrete – Pictorial – Abstract approach to learning mathematics.

This enables our children to build solid foundations in their understanding of mathematics, which is vital to master the subject.

Our calculation policy shows in detail how we use this sequence to develop the four operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
